Give Back in Kansas

The Give Back program is dedicated to providing scholarships and mentoring to students who’ve faced adverse challenges during their youth—such as the incarceration of a parent, homelessness and foster care. The scholarships in Kansas, funded by Veronica and Peter Mallouk, work to change lives and communities through education. Aside from monetary support, the Give Back scholarship works to serve as a resource of both educational and personal support for students as they pursue a college degree. We are proud to work with Veronica and Peter Mallouk, to build a scholarship program that allows students in the Kansas community to reach their full potential.

Give Back Recognizes Peter and Veronica Mallouk

Give Back is fortunate to have the support of Peter & Veronica Mallouk, whose generous $3 million donation launched the program in Kansas, Give Back’s first publicly funded state.

As partners in both their careers and personal lives, the Mallouks have leveraged their financial success to support causes across the country with an emphasis in their home state of Kansas and the Greater Kansas City area. Peter and Veronica co-founded KC CAN!, an organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged children in Kansas City. Their contributions were recognized by the community when the Mallouks received the “Giving the Basics Human Dignity Award.” Peter’s wealth management firm, Creative Planning, has also supported charities across the country.

Give Back is honored to be chosen as the Mallouk’s next cause to champion. Their generous investment will continue their devoted mission to young people in Kansas, helping to provide sustainable futures for youth who’ve faced unimaginable hardship. Thank you for making an impact that will span generations!

“Veronica and I are strongly motivated to help those who don’t get a fair shake. We funded the Kansas arm of Give Back because we want to do our small part to help put as many kids as we can as close to the same starting line as other kids. We don’t believe someone’s probability of success should be dependent on their ZIP code of birth.” – Peter Mallouk

“This scholarship has changed my perspective and given me the determination to make my dreams come true. For example, when I used to say: ‘I want’ to become a psychologist for single moms and children. Now it’s changed to, ‘I will’ become a psychologist for single moms and children.”

Daniel Carrillo

“This scholarship will affect my family in a positive way. Even though they are not able to help me financially or physically, they believe in me and in what I can do. I don’t live with my parents because they are outside of the country. I have only seen them twice since I left them at the age of 16 years old to pursue my dreams. When they found out about me being a Give Back scholarship recipient, they couldn’t believe it. They knew that this was the beginning of a dream come true.”

Madylien Voboril

“To the Mallouks, I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for believing in my future and for awarding me with this scholarship. You have lightened my financial burden, which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school; learning. Words cannot express how grateful I am for the kindness you have shown my family and me through a time we have needed it most. Your generosity has truly inspired me and I hope that one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals, just as you have helped me!”

Cameron Shaner

“When I heard I would be receiving the scholarship I was in shock. To me, it means getting the chance to make my dream of becoming a teacher a reality. Thank you to the Mallouks for giving me the chance to go forward. Thank you for taking the weight and stress of finding money for college off of my family’s shoulders.”

“You will not regret picking me and I will make you proud. You don’t know how happy and relieved I am. Giving scholarships like this really changes lives and that is what happened to me. The Mallouks changed my life.”

Alicia Sandoval

“I have three younger siblings and I think that this scholarship will show them that college is possible. There will be hope instilled in them now that I’ve received this scholarship.”

Kohlton Voboril

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The Mallouk’s generosity is what is making this possible for me and others. I’m so grateful. I dream of going to college and graduating with a degree. I want to be successful in my career and one day give back and help out others.”
This scholarship means everything to me. At the time, I was working 40 hours a week while going to school to pay for my own expenses. Without the opportunity of being a Give Back Scholar I was not going to be able to go to college.
