Michael Rounds

Michael J. Rounds became the 13th president of Williamson College of the Trades in 2013. President Rounds earned a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy in 1988, and a M.S. in mechanical engineering from University of Minnesota in 1998. He is a licensed Professional Engineer. During his 25 years of active duty in the Army Corps of Engineers, he served overseas in Germany and South Korea and in Operation Iraqi Freedom I in 2003 and in Afghanistan in 2009-10. He taught engineering at West Point and served as the Deputy Commander of the West Point Preparatory School, retiring from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is a graduate of the Army’s Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger schools and the Army Command and General Staff College. His military awards include the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster. At Williamson, President Rounds has revised the trade curriculum, added an electrical program, and increased enrollment by 22% while providing the leadership that ensures Williamson remains true to its founding mission of preparing financially-deserving young men to be respected leaders and productive members of society.
